Inspiration for designers

ReUSEIT

The fifty-three submissions for the ReUSEIT contest can now be seen online. Contestants have been asked to create a redesign for Jakob Nielsen's useit.com. The competition, not organised by Nielsen (but conducted with his approval), is an attempt to get all those designers and coders who love to poke fun at useit.com's minimalist design to "do something useful".

Judging is under way at the moment. I haven't looked too closely at the entries, but if I was a betting woman, and I knew Jakob Nielsen himself was judging, my money would be on something like UseIt.com, or maybe Out of Time as an outside chance. Lots of very nice designs there though, and a great showcase for what you can do with CSS, XHTML and WAI Accessibility level 1.

The CSS Vault

The CSS Vault is a collection of both CSS-driven commercial sites which are pleasing to the eye as well as links to tutorials and trips for the nifty CSS tricks you'll need to create them. Will be nice to watch it grow.
